In the short story Greenleaf the main character, Mrs. May who is a women, is exhausted of doing all her labor because she just knows it wont that the work she does isnt guna be used for long. She is also not nice to kids because of all the people who are are very self-centered that are around her in her town. she is married but he isnt around much. In the story she says stuff like, "If it had been my boys," he would have said, "they would have cut off their right arm before they would have allowed their maw to . . . .".Also the bull in the story might represent the Mr. May when he is not there

The quote signifies how the earth judges things not with the one’s actions or way of life. By the author saying ”. . .my stomach kind of fell as I felt how hard the world was going to be to me hereafter.”, it shows that the society doesn’t worship for peoples kindness or pacience but they look at eachother in a different point of view. In the story, the clerk loses his job only because he was trying to be kind to the three girls in the store.

He earns money by putting money on the derby races with his uncle. Even though he earned alot of money he got gready like all the other betters and got caught up.

The “awfully simple operation” is killing there child. in the phrase “they just let the air in” is clue to a way of abortion used around the same time the story was written. Throughout the entire story, the girl and the man both have there eyes on different things. The beer, the hills, the floor, never each other. It is not named because of the tension between the two. The girl is scarded about having the procedure because of morals, and having a happy life. but the man wants to continue there realationship

The Lottery

In the Lottery the views of the people change evry draft. the ones that loose and get out of the draft think it its a good idea, but the ones still in the draft think it is unfair and not nice. The last person at the end think its wrong what they do and that stoning people isn't right.

Paul's case

I think Paul is a developing character because he keaps changing thought the story. He become more and more into the rich lifestyle and the fine painting and following the acters. In the end he just gives it all up though at the rail tracks.
